All Blacks Coming To Play in USA 2014. The most recognized brand in world rugby eyes the opportunity to play in the world’s most lucrative sports market. The mighty All Blacks are looking to play in the USA some time mid-November of 2014. The on going negotiations looks to have a major venue in the New York vicinity.
There are 2 main driving forces for this renewed effort for a game in America. The first is the potential of revenue. The last few international matches held in the USA have been sold out. This provides a revenue incentive that can be very attractive to the All Blacks.
The second and most influential is AIG is based in America. AIG recently became the primary sponsor for the All Blacks. The All Blacks are not contractually obligated to play in the USA. However, playing in America provides an opportunity for the All Blacks to build exposure for AIG. This speaks volumes of how the All Blacks value the relationship with AIG. This gesture may secure future All Black sponsorships with AIG for a long time.
There are some challenges with an opponent for the All Blacks. The match timeline is outside the IRB’s player release window. This makes it difficult for top tier teams, such as the Wallabies, to accept the invitation. The preference is to find an opponent that will provide stronger opposition than what is projected from the USA Eagles.
No matter the opponent this exhibition game is openly welcomed to America. This is an opportunity to create exposure for Rugby in America to attract more fans and corporate sponsor interests. These are things that are necessary for as growing the sport in America.
Keep November 2014 open as the mighty All Blacks are coming to America!
